Rechtstraat Wyck Maastricht is a street in the center of the Dutch city of Maastricht , located in the Wyck district on the right bank of the Maas . The Rechtstraat is an important shopping and entertainment street, known for its many special shops and restaurants, often located in 17th or 18th century buildings.

Rechtstraat is referred to in medieval charters as platea recta ( Latin for “straight” or “elongated street”. The yards of the houses on the west side of the street continued as far as the Maaskade, the current Stenenwal . Until the 19th century, houses on the Stenenwal kept their address on the Rechtstraat.
In the Middle Ages, Wyck consisted of two main streets, the Rechtstraat and the Hoogbrugstraat. These streets formed the connection between the late 13th-century Sint Servaasbrug and the German Poort (originally Hoogbruggepoort, later also Wycker- or Akerpoort), the main city gate of Wyck in the 14th-century city wall.
St Martin’s Gate was located on the north side of the street. In the 16th century, it was incorporated into the St. Maartens stronghold, after which it no longer had any significance for traffic.
